A new international partnership for SOMFY Foundation

Reminder of SOMFY Foundation's purpose 

• Participates in building a better world for future generations.
• Supports projects that allow everyone to have access to healthy and sustainable living spaces that respect people and the environment.
• Supports access to emergency housing for people living in regions of the world affected by natural disasters or conflicts.

What is the international program ?

SOMFY Foundation's International Commitment Program "A House is A Home" started in January 2014, with a focus on its actions in France and Brazil (with Habitat for Humanity, in the favelas of Heliopolis). It enables subsidiaries to identify, with SOMFY Foundation, a project promoting decent housing for the most disadvantaged, to which they will jointly provide financial support, often accompanied by Group employees skills sponsorship.

Who are SOMFY Foundation's international partners? 

SOMFY Foundation works with many partners around the world and focuses on two major players to facilitate projects selection.

SOMFY Foundation historical partnership with Habitat for Humanity 

Habitat For Humanity is a leading international NGO created in 1976. Our local subsidiaries have already helped 490 people to live in better homes + 750 people with community projects. More than 100 SOMFY employees have volunteered to help support families in need.

The NGO is present in over 70 countries on five continents. More than 35 million people worldwide have been helped.

Habitat for Humanity builds strength, stability and self-sufficiency through housing, through 4 areas of activity:

• New housing, rehabilitation, repairs, construction
• Health, water and sanitation
• Housing microfinance, financial education
• Renewable energy, energy efficiency and education, sustainable development.

Habitat for Humanity's strategy is to have an impact on the community, the sector and society by improving housing conditions, access to housing and actions to end housing poverty.

SOMFY Foundation new international partner: ACTED 

SOMFY Foundation has added a humanitarian and environmental dimension to its international solidarity offer with a new partner: ACTED.

ACTED is the leading French NGO for international solidarity, working "at the last mile of humanity" to support more than 20 million beneficiaries in 42 countries, through more than 500 emergency, rehabilitation and development projects.

More than 8,000 employees, develop and implement programs for the most vulnerable people, covering various themes such as emergency response plans, sustainable access to essential needs and services (food security, access to water, hygiene and sanitation, vocational training and education...), governance strengthening or the creation of a network of partners. ), the strengthening of governance or the protection of the environment in line with ACTED's new Green Strategy (support to sustainable agriculture, water stress management, ecosystems regeneration...).

These projects are part of the 3 ZERO strategy: "zero exclusion, zero carbon, zero poverty" in 42 countries, 15 of which are shared with Somfy Group subsidiaries.

A first strong contribution! 

We start our partnership with a first concrete action to help the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

• An exceptional emergency donation for the victims
• A joint donation between SOMFY Foundation and SOMFY EMEA, a subsidiary particularly involved through its presence in Turkey!

These donations will help about 200 families, representing about 1000 people who will have access to basic care and food for a whole month.

Created in 1993, ACTED represents: 

• 20 million direct beneficiaries
• 500 emergency and development projects
• 8,000 employees worldwide

ACTED responds to the humanitarian needs of populations in crisis situations by promoting sustainable development and thus ensures the link between emergency, rehabilitation and development. An obvious link with SOMFY Foundation's purpose.

ACTED focuses its international intervention on 4 programs: 

• Water, hygiene, sanitation, waste management: rehabilitation of water points, distribution of hygiene and dignity kits, construction of septic tanks, waste treatment
• Food insecurity and agriculture: distribution of food supplements and food kits, strengthening of farmers' means of production
• Governance and sustainable development: targeted training in self-management and income-generating activities, protection of women's and children's rights
• Presence in camps: camp management, fighting against violence, access to information

And acts concretely on several sustainable development objectives
